Parade O Heroes is a grade 1 piece for Beginning Concert Band. This would be a great first “non-method book” piece to hand out to your beginning band. It features strictly limited ranges in all instrument groups, repetition, and an easy musical form to follow. As a march, it has an easy beat with very limited syncopation.

Grade Explanation

GRADE 1 denotes music that is focused on beginners. It features strictly limited ranges, basic time signatures without changes, limited percussion, and plainly written rhythms with whole, half, quarter, and eighth notes. Clarinets do not cross the break, and trumpets stay well within the staff. Lastly, it remains relatively short to preserve young embouchures.
